Toyota announces hybrid, E85 plans
Toyota Motor Thailand announces it will push the country as a production base of its hybrid and the E85 vehicles following the government’s announcement to cut down duties on more parts imported for the projects.
Toyota senior assistance managing director Vichien Emprasertsuk said the automaker is now ready to mass produce the vehicles.
“We are appreciated the government’s announcement of duty cut on six more parts for the hybrid vehicle and eight more parts for the E85 vehicle,” he said.
“The hybrid car is the right solution in term of energy efficiency and environmentally friendly.”
Toyota has urged the Thai government to consider the hybrid car project, which it said always ready to launch the production as soon as an incentive package announced.
The country’s largest automaker revised up its domestic vehicle sale forecast for 2010 to 650 thousand units, and total sale of its vehicle to 272 thousand units.
Toyota Thailand president Kyoichi Tanada said the company this year has celebrated a one-million-unit mark of auto export from the country.
Thailand is Toyota’s largest production base of its MIV vehicles (light pickup truck and SUV collectively) amongst its five production-based countries around the world with an export value of more than 568 billion baht.
