Asia Plus plans becoming joint venture firm

Asia Plus Securities Plc (ASP) is looking for growth through strategic partner with a financial institution in an attempt to diversify its business portfolio into higher-yield ventures, according to president Kongkiert Opasvongkarn.

Mr. Kongkiert has declined to disclose name of the prospective partner, saying the company is looking to build long-term a relationship for an establishment of a high-yield enterprise.

The company said it currently manages over 40 billion accounts of active customers and is introducing a Wealth Plus package to reach into larger base of wealthier customers.

“With the stock exchange relaxed its rules on fixed commission rate, brokerage firms will be also able offer more competitive packages as well as relax rules on their own customers by implementing an annual fee on inactive accounts instead of put compelling on them to become an active one,” Mr. Kongkiert said.

He said Asia Plus’s adaptive strategy would benefit both its shareholders and the Bank of Thailand.
