Kasikorn Bank’s CEO Prasarn Trairatvorakul has been surfaced as the top candidate to be replaced the outgoing Bank of Thailand governor Tarisa Watanagase as its head administrator amid a fierce candidacy competition, the people involved with the matter told reporters.

“It’s not an easy decision to make,” the news source said, “but Mr. Prasarn’s profile has overshadowed the rivals’.”

The recruitment committees announced Friday they would propose screened-names of candidates for the Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij’s consideration next week.

Mr. Korn will have one month to determine the candidates’ suitability for the position.

The finance minister has said he is proud of all the candidates’ profile, remarking that multiple choices indicate that Thailand has had numerous talent personnel fit for the job.

“Mr. Korn personally favors Mr. Prasarn due to his distinguished background as a policy maker for the financial industry and as the private sector’s representative,” the news source said.

The other three candidates include Mr. Pisith Lee-atham, a former finance minister and one of Democrat’s most brilliant policy makers on monetary; Mr. Bandid Nijthavorn, an economist and central bank deputy governor; and Mr. Theerachai Bhuvanatnaranubal, the Securities Exchange Committee member.

The news source said highlight of the candidacy competition will be between Mr. Bandid who recently gained financial administrative experiences through his role as director of monetary regulators and Mr. Prasarn who is the industry’s think tank.
