THAI faces liquidity tight

Thai Airways International Plc (THAI)’s is negotiating with Airbus Industry to put off the first installment of six A330 passenger airliners it has ordered, said Marshall Narongsak Sangkhapong, assistant director of the company.

The state aviation agency is due to pay the first installment by this January in order to receive delivery of the first airliner in April 2009.

Mr. Narongsak said shipment of the first liner will be arrived as previously plan despite of the delay in payment.

He said, however, shipment of all the six airliners may postpone until the beginning of 2010.

“We are not sure whether or not delivery all of the rest airliners will be delayed, but we need confirmed information in order to plan our old airliners retirement,” Mr. Narongsak said.

Thai Airways International is scheduled to retire three of its old A300 or A600 airplanes from service this year to update its flight standard.
