THAI shares closed 4.93% higher

Shares of Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) closed 0.35 baht, or 4.39 percent higher, on Tuesday at 7.45 baht over investors’ speculation of the company’s fourth quarter net profit report, which is expected to be its worst quarterly performance.

Asia Plus Securities estimated that THAI’s worst quarterly performance had been reached and it has shown sign of recovery as fuel costs are significantly lower during the period.

Thai Airways International has future contract for oil at $78 per barrel only 20 percent of its total oil reserve.

“With the business back to normal, the company will bee able to see profit yet again in the near future,” the brokerage firm said.

Asia Plus has changed status of shares of Thai Airways International from sell to hold—suggesting waiting and seeing the company’s fourth quarter report.
