Thailand sees record growth in June export

Thailand’s export surged to a record growth in June, pushed by an accelerating growth in the industrial sector, according to data released by the Commerce Ministry.

Commerce Minister Porntiva Nagasai said the country’s export expanded 46.3 percent in June to a total value of 18.03 billion dollars, faster than an import which grew 37.9 percent worth 15.72 billion dollars, resulting to a trade surplus of 2.32 billion dollar.

“The data was a record high since export is being monitored,” Ms. Porntiva said.

She said the country’s export in the first half of the year expanded at 36.6 percent with total value of 93.07 billion dollars, while import went up 51.7 percent worth 86.68 billion dollars, resulting to a trade surplus of 6.4 billion dollars.

The most fastest growth involved with industrial goods, expanded 52.6 percent, and agricultural goods, expanded 33.3 percent, due to rising global demand and the country’s penetrating into more new markets.
