Readers of American leading travel magazine Global Traveler have picked Bangkok as the “Best International Business City 2008″ in an annual survey conducting from January through August 2008.

The fifth anniversary award asked readers to cast ballot about 50 categories–mostly are business-orient such as best airline, best hotel, best spa, and best restaurant.

Tourism Authority Thailand in Los Angeles director Chanchai Duangchit said “It’s truly an honor to receive such recognition. This means that Bangkok is a world class city in the eye of Business Travelers.”

However, the survey was conducted before the seizure of Bangkok’s two main international airports by anti-government protesters, which left hundreds of thousands travelers stranded and unappeasable damage to the country’s image.
