HOBS (House of Beers)

hobsThey said a hard-core beer drinker should never miss the chance in tasting a Belgian beer, because Belgian beer is considered the best beer in the world by the global drinkers.

Surely, the German and the Dutch may have told long stories about the legendary of their beers. But Belgian beer also has its origin dated back to the Middle Age.

Since pubs that serve Belgian beer are relatively rare in Bangkok, HOBS (House of Beers) is every night swarmed with drinkers who fall in love with European beers from all over the world’s hottest capital city.

The house is run by a young English-Chinese entrepreneur Christopher Fu and serves a variety of more than 30 European beers and world-class beers.

Christ himself is a hard drinker of Belgian beer, and a core historian of local beers which brands he had imported.

“I have no doubt that the Belgian have brewed the best beer in the world,” said Christ as he gestured towards a show cabinet containing various kinds of beer in an interview. “Their brewing recipe has an origin dated back to the Middle Age. Every city brews beer and unlike German and Dutch beers, Belgian beer comprises of the most diverse of natural collection.”

I have rarely tasted any beer from Belgium, but what just touched my tongue had definitely told the different story about beer. Christ said it was Hoegaarden, Belgium’s most well-known beer amid drinkers around the globe, brewing from pure ore water, barleys, and oat with smell of orange in Brussels.

“If you want stronger beer, you could try Stella Artois,” Christ encouraged me.

“And Leffe for stiffer smell,” he said.

Christ also informed me that Belgian beer drinkers are very careful with their glass of beer selection. Legendary has it that some pubs refuse to serve beer if they think there is no suitable glass for specific brand of beer to serve with.

It is because they believe that glass is the part that help boosted the taste of the beer.
