How to install Windows 7 display driver from CD
Windows 7 is a wonderful operating system. It has been proclaimed as Microsoft’s masterpiece and equipped with numerous fabulous features. However, even a nerd may have little knowledge of how to resolve small problems such as unable to install a display driver.
I run Windows 7 for almost a year on my laptop. I like its fast processing features but I installed it as minimal as possible for energy efficient.
A few days back I had purchased the software to upgrade my PC to Windows 7 from the XP. Problems had been surfaced as expected as anytime I installed Windows. There is not compatible driver available. Although necessary drivers like Realtek, DirectX, and Nvidia can be downloaded online, I have problem with installing them.
Problems for the first two software had been resolved in few hours. But it takes me two full days to discover how to install Nvidia display driver.
Searching on the internet got me nowhere. I’d downloaded almost display drivers available on nvidia.com and cannot install them on my computer—even tried Troubleshot Compatibility.
So I look to solve it offline by buying a drivers CD (DVD) and try and error how to install them.
Here’s the solution:
- Click start menu >>> in the search box type “Device Manager”.
- On the Device Manager window, right click on “Standard VGA Adapter” under ‘Display Adapters’.

- Select “Update Driver Software…” and click on it.

- Now lets the Windows fabulous wizard do its jobs automatically.
